Welcome to Idlewood!

Idlewood is a no-app, text-based RP. You are free to bring in fandom or original characters for as little or as long as you would like. Use this space to test voices, or to run through plots with other players.

What is Idlewood?

Idlewood is a city. Where? It's hard to say. But we know it exists, because we're here. Whether you're just passing through, or moving in for permanent residence, there are plenty of things to do. It's a weird kind of city, where magic and monsters tend to rub shoulders with the ordinary people going about their daily lives. Anything is available in Idlewood. You just need to know where to find it.

Who can play?

Characters must have their own journals to play in this game. Please, no mun or shared accounts. Character journals must be marked as roleplay accounts. It's also helpful for other players to list your fandom (if applicable), contact info, and a short bio. We do not require How's My Driving posts, but open PMs or a post where other players can contact you OOC are required.

How to play

Membership is open, with no app process or moderation queue. To open RP, make a new post to the community. The subject of your post should contain your character name, and where they are. EXAMPLE: Tony Stark | Coffee Shop. You can be as generic or specific as you like with the locations. Players are free to establish their own residences or places of business around the city.

All locations and characters will be given their own tags. You can request a tag here.

As this community grows, we would like to implement some sort of IC police force. Until that time, please try to play as if police are a presence. You are free to NPC characters as needed.

OOC Rules

- Please limit explicit play on this community. If you would like to play out sexually explicit or graphically violent scenarios, please do so on your character's journals, and link back on the community.

- If you have a problem with another player, please try to resolve it first before contacting the mods. Mods do not want to ban people, and would prefer to find other ways to resolve issues.

- Any and all characters are welcome, but please be aware that not all characters will be well-received. If you have a problem with a specific character, don't tag them.

- Please warn for any NSFW scenarios played in threads. The main body of the post must remain work-safe. If your post needs something that might be iffy, please put it behind a cut to be safe.

- If your action is going to affect other players, please consult with them first. In short, no god-moding, or putting other players in a position that forces them to play out something they're not comfortable with.

- No canon puncturing.

Rule violations will be handled on a case-by-case basis with the mods. Some rules can be bent and broken in many cases, if all parties agree to what's going on ahead of time. The only time mods will step in to a situation without being called is when it affects the larger community.

IC Rules

- No nudity in public spaces.

- No violence in public spaces.

- No theft, destruction of public or private property, or vandalism

- Basically, the rules follow real life as much as possible.

Rule violations will be handed on an IC-basis between players. For now, you are your own police until we get something more organised. In the future, we will have the ability for players to apply to a police force, and town halls to vote on city ordinances.

Character Continuity

Since we allow anybody to play, there will likely be duplicates of certain popular characters. This is fine! You are welcome to play this up or ignore it at will.
